Cleaning Rust From Sinks

Question: Cleaning Rust From Sinks

We live on the farm, this will be our first year of producing organic crops.  We believe in using natural cleaning products etc and have a problem with rust in our well water.  Is there a natural cleaner to remove rust build up in sinks etc.?

Answer:

Here is some information about cleaning rust from sinks.

1) Pour or rub white vinegar or lemon juice onto the stain.

2) Let the liquid stand until the spot or spots disappear.

3) Rinse the area with fresh water.

4) Repeat steps if necessary.

Rather then repeat the vinegar treatment, I have been experimenting with rust cleaning in sinks, as well.  I used some baking soda sprinkled on the same spots where I had previously used the vinegar (which had removed most of the stain).  After moistening the sink, I let the baking soda sit for a few minutes and then scrubbed the spots.  Voilą, no more stains and the sink was clean, as well.
