Organic Growing

Get Rid of Ants

Question: Organic Growing

What is considered organic growing?

Answer:

Thank you for your excellent question. In the Gardening For The Soil section of this website are several articles related to organic gardening.  Organic Gardening describes organic gardening and the practical steps involved; Organic Lawn Care explains the steps to getting your lawn off drugs; how to create “gardener’s gold” is described in Composting; nourishment and nutrients for growing plants using common garden herbs and weeds are identified in Nourishing Herb Teas for your Garden.

Question: Ants

How do you get rid of ants?

Answer:

Thank you for your question.  I am seeing a large ant colony between the sidewalk and driveway in my yard, as well.  What I do is, pour boiling water along the area.  I have also done that on my lawn and down the side of the cement on the outside basement wall.  From my experience, this really works.  Remember that boiling water sterilizes the soil so if you are doing it on the lawn, make sure it is only on the anthills.  For more information about organic pest control, including ants in the house, see Environmentally Friendly Gardening Products on this website or you can purchase Non-toxic Alternatives For Everyday Cleaning And Gardening Chores as a hardcopy book or e-book at Books.
