Wise people seek solutions.  The ignorant only cast blame.”  - I Ching

Michael Samuels wrote, “In the struggle for freedom from environmental pollution the battle is ultimately not won by force but by healing, and within this framework we must all become healers.”  I believe this statement speaks to the fundamental question of ‘our place in the universe’ and ‘how we live our lives.’  Do we pollute our homes, offices, community, country, and planet through the words of anger and hatred so carelessly and thoughtlessly said?  Do we poison our relationships with our insistence on winning the ‘power struggle’ at any cost?

Peace of mind from healing and creating peace in our relationships is of the utmost importance in our journey to creating healing and peace on the planet.  It helps us to find the strength to live our lives more effectively and more completely as we move away from the notion of powerlessness.  The ownership of our energy, personal power, and spiritual well-being, and the willingness to create ‘our oasis for the soul’ can indeed create ‘peace on earth’ - peace for all the inhabitants on the earth.

I believe that we live during the most crucial time in the history of the planet – that each of our lives is profoundly important in the tasks that lie before us.  We are the hope of the generations to come and the children who are now being born.  William James said, “I will act as if what I do makes a difference.”  It truly does.

This is the beginning of the fifteenth chapter of the book The Healing Garden: A Place Of Peace by Gwen Nyhus Stewart.  There's lots more information online, but if you've read this much, you'll undoubtedly find the book of great value!
