Section 1, 2, and 3 workshops are based on the book The Healing Garden: A Place Of Peace

Section 1 Internal Healing and Peace

Interpersonal Relationships focuses on the communication process.  Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • examine the communication process,
  • practice active listening skills,
  • examine belief systems, and
  • learn practical steps to changing interpersonal relationships.

 

Clearing the Clutter focuses on internal and external clutter and the effects of this clutter on our relationship with self and others.  You will learn to:

  • manage internal and external energy,
  • release unproductive relationships,
  • examine the role of clutter, and
  • learn practical steps to changing internal and external clutter.

 

Forgiveness examines the relationship between beliefs, irrational thinking, and health.  This workshop focuses on:

  • the role of forgiveness in healing and inner peace,
  • self-forgiveness and forgiveness of others,
  • self-appreciation and self-esteem, and
  • practical steps to achieving healing and inner peace.

 

Gratitude examines perception, attitudes, and making peace with ourselves.  The topics covered in the workshop include:

  • existential despair, the ‘modern day illness,’
  • what you see is what you get,
  • practical steps to changing attitudes, and
  • gratitude as a way of life.

 

Living in Balance examines balance as an opportunity to manage our lives.  Participants will learn about:

  • reasons for managing time,
  • the relationship between time management and stress,
  • practical steps to managing time and stress, and

Section 2 External Healing and Peace

What is a Garden examines the role of the garden as a place of healing.  Participants will learn to:

·        examine the relationship between the garden, inner peace, and healing,

·        components of the garden,

·        practical steps to creating an outdoor garden, and

·        designing the outdoor garden.

 

Colour and Healing Energy examines the relationship between colour and the healings aspects of chromotherapy.  Topics covered in the workshop include:

·        what the colours mean, and

·        emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual aspects.

 

Colour Energy, Plants, and Recipes examine phytochemistry, the relationship of food colours and healing the body.  Participants will learn about:

·        healing properties of colours,

·        plants for introducing healing colour,

·        recipes, and

·        creating healing through colour.

 

Creating an Indoor Garden focuses on plants as a method for maintaining health.  Participants will learn:

·        which plants are best for air quality,

·        practical steps to creating the indoor garden,

·        plants and colour energy, and

·        designing the indoor garden.

 

Creating an Indoor Herb Garden describes the process of growing herbs indoors and out.  Participants will learn:

·        the components of the indoor herb garden,

·        which herbs are the easiest to grow indoors,

·        cooking with herbs and recipes, and

·        herbs, colour energy, spiritual meaning, ideas and options for creating an indoor herb garden.

Section 3 Planetary Healing and Peace

Simplicity as a Life-style describes the components of living a life of simplicity.  The workshop will examine the following:

·        achieving this state,

·        practical steps to simplifying your life,

·        discovering your joy, and

·        ideas and options for creating joy.

 

Acts of Kindness examines the process of contributing to the planet in a conscious way.  Participants will have an opportunity to:

·        examine acts of kindness, and

·        practice ideas and options.

 

A Place of Sanctuary: Creating Sacred Space focuses on creating a ‘garden for the soul.’  Participants will learn to:

  • bring the sacred into everyday living,
  • develop and implement practical steps to creating sanctuary,
  • explore attitudinal and spiritual requirements, and
  • create a sacred space in our homes, workplaces, and gardens. 

 

Earth Stewardship examines the process of ‘thinking globally and acting locally.’  The focus of this workshop is:

  • environmental stewardship,
  • household products, chemical content, and non-toxic alternatives
  • what we can do, and
  • practical steps to environmental stewardship.

 

Healing and Peace – Integrating the Whole completes this series of workshops by bringing together the components of an integrated approach to creating healing and peace with self, community, and at a global level.  The focus is:

  • practical steps to creating healing and peace in relationships,
  • practical steps to living healing and peace,
  • writing the journey, and

Garden Workshops

Colour in the Garden provides participants with the opportunity to explore colour and how it affects our emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.  The workshop focuses on:

  • meaning of colours,
  • colour vibrations and healing qualities,
  • colour combinations, and
  • specialty gardens.

 

Creating Enabling Gardens examines the options available for enabling persons of all ages and abilities to garden throughout their lives.  Topics covered in the workshop include:

  • balcony gardens,
  • container gardens,
  • gardening for the senses, and
  • components of an enabling garden.

 

Gardening with Feng Shui focuses on the “Ancient Art of Placement.”  Participants will have the opportunity to explore:

  • creating balance and harmony of the cosmic energy called Ch’i,
  • elements of Feng Shui,
  • remedies in the garden, and
  • designing the Feng Shui garden.

 

The Indoor Garden discusses the benefits of plants in the home.  Participants will learn:

  • which plants to utilize for a physically and spiritually healthy home,
  • colour and its healing properties,
  • creating a place of sanctuary, and
  • how to care for plants indoors.

 

Preparing the Garden for Winter examines the process required to ensure a healthy garden for spring and how the winter garden can be a healing place.  Participants will discuss:

  • feeding the soil through composting,
  • caring for trees and lawns over winter,
  • planting before winter, and
  • feeding the winter wildlife.

Professional Development

A Healing Journey is designed as a workshop to begin the process of moving from the notion of being a victim (blaming others /or external factors) to becoming a survivor (in charge of the direction of your life).  Participants will learn to:

  • develop healthy relationships,
  • heal the past,
  • manage stress and conflict, and
  • develop and implement a plan to apply the principles.

 

Consciously Manifesting Abundance examines the process of learning how to consciously create the life you want.  You will learn to:

  • Manifest what you want.
  • Allow your good to flow to you.
  • Use affirmations to change your life.
  • Write and use a Gratitude Journal.
  • Use the Principle of Unlimited Potential.

 

Counselling Skills is designed for individuals working in a professional capacity.  This workshop is a practical, skill based, experiential workshop where participants will have an opportunity to:

  • discuss various communication models,
  • learn basic counselling skills,
  • practice newly learned skills, and
  • develop methods of healthy, personal self-care practices.

 

Creating Balance In Your Life is designed for the person trying to balance work and family responsibilities.  Participants will examine:

  • our relationship with self and others,
  • belief systems and their effects,
  • time and stress management strategies, and
  • creating sacred space and sanctuary as self-care .

 

Developing Healthy Organizations is designed to improve working relationships in organizations.  Participants will learn to:

  • understand the interpersonal communication process,
  • communicate effectively in interpersonal relationships,  
  • actively listen and resolve differences in perception, and
  • respect differences through understanding and empathy.

 

Healing the Child Within: The Inner Child examines the process required to heal the emotional wounds resulting from childhood experiences.  Participants will learn:

  • to stop letting the experiences of the past dictate how you respond to life today,
  • the governing principle in life is cause and effect,
  • you have the power to change your relationship with yourself, and
  • you can heal emotional wounds from childhood that are determining your life today.

 

Horticultural Therapy is a workshop designed for persons working in the field or who plan to create a therapeutic program.  Participants will learn:

  • what is horticultural therapy and defining the parameters,
  • purpose and intervention skills,
  • listening skills and how to work successfully with clients, and
  • funding and designing a horticultural program.
